Event Details

Description:
Most Lean and Six Sigma initiatives are projects and require project management skills to reach their full potential. However, LSS and project management have different methodologies and understanding how to successfully merge the approaches can greatly improve results. This presentation will provide an overview of the PMI’s five process groups and how they overlap with typical process improvement approaches (e.g. PDSA, DMAIC). We will also discuss the key project management tools required for improvement efforts.

Key PM Tools for LSS Projects

Most Lean and Six Sigma initiatives are projects and require project management skills to reach their full potential. However, LSS and project management have different methodologies and understanding how to successfully merge the approaches can greatly improve results. This presentation will provide an overview of the PMI’s five process groups and how they overlap with typical process improvement approaches (e.g., PDSA, DMAIC). We will also discuss the key project management tools required for improvement efforts. These may include project schedules, communication plans, chartering, issues management, and status reports.

We will provide a document that shows how the stages in project management and process improvement merge and provide templates for other key tools.
